200 non-functional Macs: 60% recovered, 3x typical value

The partner's standard process for non-booting devices was physical destruction of the logic board. At approximately $50 per unit, 200 Macs would yield around $10,000. The partner asked whether higher recovery was possible.

Renoo proposed repair before destruction. After component-level diagnostics and repair, approximately 60% of units (120 devices) powered on and passed full data erasure via MacCheck. Working devices were valued at approximately $250 per unit. The remaining 40% were physically destroyed with documentation.

Total recovery increased from approximately $10,000 (full shred) to approximately $34,000 (120 working units at $250 + 80 shredded units at $50). The partner received testing, erasure, and grading reports for all 200 units.
